Tech-Tim's Did You Know?

Tech Tim's Did you know?

Did you know that an old computer does not necessarily mean a junk computer?

There is a big difference in hardware and software issues. If your computer is less then 5 years old, and you notice that it is running as slow as a turtle, chances are the operating system is to blame. A good rule of thumb is to first rule out software before considering the issue being hardware related. Before you go out and buy a new computer that could have the same issue 6 months down the line, be sure the issue isnt fixable first.

Did you know that having a little knowledge about viruses, can prevent your computer from getting infected?

fact is, virus creators are out to do anything they can to try to trick the uneducated into getting infected. Getting familiar with how they work, what sites to avoid to prevent from getting infected, and what tricks they use to infect your computer will help to prevent you from getting infected. Check out my blog "Infection Prevention" to learn how to stay safe from viruses and their damaging effects.

Did you know that there is no such thing as the "Any Key", or is there?

Everyone has seen it before, "Push the Any key to continue". Now the average computer user can quickly figure out, or already knows that there is in fact, no keyboard key called the Any key. But in the technical World the computer guru will often tell a less educated computer user that the space bar is known as the infamous 'Any key". Compaq programmers even considered replacing the code "Push the Any Key" with "push the Return key". In my opinion, this would have caused yet another anomoly. In actuality, there is a novilty keyboard key that can be purchased called the "Any Key".
